2019 Ford Edge vs. 2019 Chevrolet Blazer
If you want lots of interior space, but not three rows of seats, turn to the mid-size crossover segment. For 2019, the Chevrolet Blazer makes a comeback. While you might be tempted by its newness, we think the tried and true 2019 Ford Edge will keep you much happier. Discover how these two models stack up.
Passenger Space
One of the most important factors in choosing a new family vehicle is interior space. You will get plenty of it when you choose the Ford Edge. It offers 114 cubic feet of passenger volume, while the Blazer only comes with 108. This translates to 1.6 inches of additional front legroom; slightly more front hip, shoulder, and headroom; an inch more legroom; over three inches of additional rear hip room; and almost two inches more rear shoulder room.
Cargo Volume
Another thing families need a lot of is cargo space. Behind the rear seats, the Blazer comes with just 30.5 cubic feet of space. In the Edge, you get a lot more with 39.2 cubic feet. Fold down the rear seats in the Edge and you can use up to 73.4 cubic feet. The Blazer cuts you short at 64.2 cubic feet.
Engine Power
Both the Edge and the Blazer come with two engine options. However, both Edge engines offer more power than the Blazer engines. The Edge comes standard with a 250-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine, while the Blazer’s standard four-cylinder is only good for 193 horsepower.
Optional on the Edge is a turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 rated at 335 horsepower. The Blazer’s available 3.6-liter V6 only delivers 300 horsepower.
Fuel Economy
Even with more power, the Edge is still more efficient than the Blazer. When equipped with the base engine and front-wheel drive, the Edge returns an EPA-estimated 22 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined.* The Blazer gets an estimated 22 mpg city, 27 mpg highway, and 24 mpg combined.
