Ford EcoSport vs. Ford Escape

For drivers looking for a new SUV to buy, there are a number of Ford vehicles to choose from, including the compact EcoSport and the 5-seater Escape. While these vehicles are in different classes, a comparison reveals the major differences between the two. Both come with incredible precision to detail and excellent quality, but some drivers may prefer one over the other.

Under the Hood

The Escape has a four-cylinder engine with up to 168 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque, while the EcoSport has up to 123 horsepower and 125 lb-ft of torque thanks to the three-cylinder turbocharged 1.0-liter engine. While the EcoSport comes with less overall horsepower, it has better combined fuel economy with up to 28 mpg.*

The EcoSport Titanium trim has an optional 2.0-liter Ti-VCT engine, while the Escape Titanium comes with a TwinScroll Turbocharged engine.

If you want added power, choose the Escape. If you’d like better gas mileage, the EcoSport is the one for you.

Dimensions

The EcoSport is notably smaller as a compact SUV, which can have its advantages. For example, the lightweight EcoSport is just 3,020 pounds, and it measures just over 161 inches long. That means parallel parking and navigating narrow city streets may be easier in the EcoSport. The Escape is larger and heavier, which is great for those who prefer more space. The Escape measures 178 inches in length, yet both the EcoSport and Escape both have seating for five.

Trims and Options

The Escape has four trims (the S, SE, SEL, and Titanium) as well as both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive options.  The EcoSport also comes with four trims (the S, SE, SES, and Titanium), and you can also opt for four-wheel drive over front-wheel drive on the EcoSport too. While the Titanium trim on both vehicles offers added luxuries, there are some differences between the EcoSport and the Escape. The Escape Titanium, for instance ,has Adaptive Cruise as an option, which does not come on the EcoSport; however, the EcoSport is notably more affordable.

In short, you get more options and features on upper-level Escape trims, but the EcoSport is more affordable. If you want to see the differences between the EcoSport and Escape in person, come to Two Rivers Ford.
