Ford Co-Pilot360

This year, Ford announced Ford Co-Pilot360™, which is a state-of-the-art suite of safety and driver-assist features that help keep drivers safe and feeling confident while on the road. According to the manufacturer, the Ford Co-Pilot360™ is “the most advanced suite of standard driver-assist technologies among full-line brands in North America,” so you won’t find more advanced standard features anywhere. This exceptional suite will begin rolling out across the Ford lineup – including passenger cars, SUVs, and trucks – this fall, beginning on the 2019 Ford Edge.

Ford Co-Pilot360™ consists of five main features:

Automatic Emergency Braking/Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection

This technology monitors the road ahead of you and alerts you if it detects something in your path, such as a slower vehicle or a pedestrian. If you don’t respond appropriately, the system will automatically apply your vehicle’s brakes. This system will come standard on 91% of Ford vehicles in North America by 2020.

Lane Keeping System

This convenient system helps you stay safely and snugly within your own lane, automatically making minor steering adjustments to assist you. If the system detects that your vehicle is drifting, it will alert you using steering wheel vibration. It if detects that your driving seems a little inattentive, it will alert you using both visual and audio warnings.

Blind Spot Information System with Cross Traffic Alert

This system helps maximize your visibility on the road by actively monitoring your blind spots and alerting you if there is a vehicle present. The system also includes cross traffic alert, which will alert you if there is a car approaching from either direction while backing up from your driveway or a parking space.

Rear View Camera

The rear vision camera increases your ability to see behind your vehicle while reversing. Not only does the camera help alert you if there is something in your path, it also is very useful while parallel parking.

Auto High Beam Lighting

This system will automatically turn on your vehicle’s high beam lighting when it detects it’s necessary.

Besides these five standard features, Ford offers additional available driver-assist technologies, including adaptive cruise control with stop and go and lane centering, evasive steering assist, and post-collision braking. Next year, Ford will also be introducing reverse brake assist.
