Getting Started with Ford SYNC® 3

Modern cars are more like computers than ever before. If you have purchased a new Ford recently, it may be equipped with the latest Ford SYNC® 3 infotainment system. If it is, here are a few quick ways to help you get started.

Select Media Source

You can get started by simply pressing the “Sources” button. This will allow you to select the type of media you want to listen to. Your options include the following:

  • AM
  • FM
  • SiriusXM radio
  • CD
  • USB
  • Bluetooth stereo
  • AppLink-enabled audio apps

Tune to AM/FM and SiriusXM Radio Stations

If you know the exact station you want to listen to, there are three steps to tune in. Make sure you have the correct source selected for the station you want before you begin.

  1. Press the “Direct Tune” button. A window will pop up. Or you can use the physical tune or seek controls located on the center console to choose your station.
  2. Touch the keypad. Use the keypad to enter a station’s frequency. Use the backspace button if you make a mistake.
  3. Press “Enter.” Once you have entered the call numbers, press Enter to begin playing the station. Or press “Cancel” to exit the menu without playing the station.

Set a New Preset

If you want to make listening to your favorite stations easier, program them as presets. To do this, tune in to the station you want, then press and hold a memory preset button. The audio will mute briefly while it saves the station.

There are three present banks for FM stations and two available for AM. Once the buttons are programmed, simply tap the preset button to tune in to that station. Tap the button more than once to access additional preset banks. There is an indicator on the preset button to show you which bank you are viewing.
