The SYNC 3® system is already one of the most advanced infotainment systems out there, and it just got even smarter. This May, Ford announced that it would be joining forces with Waze to offer a superior navigation experience to drivers. If you have a SYNC 3®-equipped vehicle, you won’t want to wait to make the jump.

Why Waze?

Waze is the world’s largest community-based traffic and navigation app. As compared to other navigation apps, Waze users can report on real-time road conditions, accidents, and more. Simply having the app open automatically contributes pertinent road information – like heavy traffic, slowdowns, and ETA estimates – to Waze’s community of users. If you wish, your front seat passengers can also take a more active role in the Waze community and manually report on route changes, hazards, accidents, the positions of police vehicles, and fuel prices while driving. This information is automatically shared with other Waze users on the road, creating a well-informed and collaborative road experience.

With Waze’s wealth of features, drivers will have a better driving experience. It will help you find the quickest route as well as allow you to find the cheapest fuel prices in the area without any extra effort.

How do I use Waze with my SYNC 3®?

To use Waze, plug in your smartphone to the USB port of your vehicle, launch Ford SYNC® AppLink®, and select the Waze app. This will launch Waze on the vehicle’s touchscreen display and you will be able to hear voice guidance (driving directions, etc.) over your vehicle’s speakers. To control the system, you can use voice commands as a result of the SYNC 3® system’s microphone system.

Issue Commands from the Driver’s Seat

The SYNC 3® system is Ford’s next-generation of voice-activated technology. The system allows you to issue voice commands for a hands-free and safer way to navigate all the connectivity and entertainment options available to you while driving. Rather than having to enter a location or look up an alternative route, you can simply ask the Waze app (while connected to the SYNC 3® system) to perform these tasks for you.
