Mike Vrabel Fired

On Tuesday, the Titans took over national headlines, as controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk announced that she had fired head coach Mike Vrabel after 6 seasons with the team. Vrabel won 2 AFC South titles with the Titans, took them to the playoffs 3 straight years (2019-2021), and appeared in 1 AFC Championship Game. The decision by Strunk took most of the football world by surprise.

After firing GM Jon Robinson last year, Ran Carthon was brought in to fill the position, a move that reportedly caused internal strife between the top brass in the Titans organization. Carthon, Vrabel, and Strunk all downplayed the reports, however, details have continued to emerge in the recent days, signaling that there was some fire behind all of that smoke.

Whether that was ultimately the undoing of Vrabel’s tenure with the Titans, no one can say for sure. Going 6-18 in his last 24 games with the team undoubtedly made any internal issues worse.

The move has fans and media split, as to whether the Titans have made a big mistake, or cut their losses with a coach that has reportedly wanted out for months now.

All we can say for certain at this time, is that a new era of Titans football is coming. No more Ryan Tannehill, Derrick Henry, AJ Brown, Kevin Byard, and Mike Vrabel. Things are going to look a lot different for the two-tone blue in 2024 and beyond.

Nick Saban Retires

On Wednesday afternoon, another massive domino fell, as it was reported that longtime Alabama head coach Nick Saban would be retiring. Saban won 6 national titles with the Crimson Tide, in 17 seasons as the head coach. Saban is without question the greatest college head coach of all time, which leaves huge shoes to fill. As I write this, reports are swirling as to who will be tabbed with replacing the GOAT.

There is nothing concrete to say yet, except for one thing…everyone in Tennessee orange is jumping for joy this morning, knowing that their biggest foe is finally gone! Go Big Orange!
