Let’s Honor Our Veterans Together

Every day on News Channel 5, you can help us salute our veterans, to give them a small dose of the recognition they deserve for everything they do and have done.

All you have to do is send their picture, name, and rank to veterans@newschannel5.com, and just like that, they could be featured on News Channel 5 one morning! We’re proud to stand alongside F&M Bank and help sponsor this great segment that can show a daily dose of support to the men and women of our armed forces, who lay it on the line for us every single day.

To those men and women, we say THANK YOU!

Celebrating 60 Years of the Mustang

The iconic Ford Mustang turns 60 years old this year, so in celebration, Ford Motor Company is building two custom Mustangs, like the one below. One will be for Ford enthusiast Sydney Sweeney, and the other can go to you!

This special car is not for sale, but you can win it as part of a new contest that started this week. If you want to enter, all you need to do is share your story with Ford on Instagram or TikTok.

Sweeney grew up in a family of mechanics, as previously highlighted in her collaboration with Ford to highlight women in the automotive industry. She learned to drive on her grandfather’s Ford F-100 truck, and is now the proud owner of a 1965 Brittany blue Ford Mustang, which inspired the custom cars for this contest.

The Ford Mustang is one of the most iconic cars on the road, and that icon is turning 60. So let’s celebrate, and see if we can’t bring that blue beauty to Tennessee with you behind the wheel! Good luck!

Take a Look at Our NEW Commercial Vehicle Center!

New Sheriff in Town

On Thursday, Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk and GM Ran Carthon publicly introduced the next head coach of the Tennessee Titans, Brian Callahan. Callahan has most recently been the offensive coordinator for the Bengals, helping orchestrate one of the NFL’s best offenses in that time.

He’s been in the NFL since 2010, working with the Broncos, Lions, and Raiders before landing in Cincinnati.

Callahan is a born football coach, the son of Bill Callahan, a legend in his own right in the NFL. Bill began his coaching career in 1980 at the college level, and minus a 4-year stretch from 2004-2007, he has been an NFL coach since 1995. Bill Callahan is currently the offensive line coach for the Cleveland Browns, and many expect him to possibly follow his son to Tennessee, a team that desperately needs help on the offensive line.

The hire has Titans fans buzzing, as Callahan is known as a great offensive mind, that is expected to help develop Will Levis into a star like he did with Joe Burrow in Cincinnati. Historically, the Titans have hired defensive coaches or coaches without a huge offensive emphasis. Now, with Callahan, many are saying this move brings the Titans “into the modern NFL era”.

Way to Go, Presley!

Mike Vrabel Fired

On Tuesday, the Titans took over national headlines, as controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk announced that she had fired head coach Mike Vrabel after 6 seasons with the team. Vrabel won 2 AFC South titles with the Titans, took them to the playoffs 3 straight years (2019-2021), and appeared in 1 AFC Championship Game. The decision by Strunk took most of the football world by surprise.

After firing GM Jon Robinson last year, Ran Carthon was brought in to fill the position, a move that reportedly caused internal strife between the top brass in the Titans organization. Carthon, Vrabel, and Strunk all downplayed the reports, however, details have continued to emerge in the recent days, signaling that there was some fire behind all of that smoke.

Whether that was ultimately the undoing of Vrabel’s tenure with the Titans, no one can say for sure. Going 6-18 in his last 24 games with the team undoubtedly made any internal issues worse.

The move has fans and media split, as to whether the Titans have made a big mistake, or cut their losses with a coach that has reportedly wanted out for months now.

All we can say for certain at this time, is that a new era of Titans football is coming. No more Ryan Tannehill, Derrick Henry, AJ Brown, Kevin Byard, and Mike Vrabel. Things are going to look a lot different for the two-tone blue in 2024 and beyond.

Nick Saban Retires

On Wednesday afternoon, another massive domino fell, as it was reported that longtime Alabama head coach Nick Saban would be retiring. Saban won 6 national titles with the Crimson Tide, in 17 seasons as the head coach. Saban is without question the greatest college head coach of all time, which leaves huge shoes to fill. As I write this, reports are swirling as to who will be tabbed with replacing the GOAT.

There is nothing concrete to say yet, except for one thing…everyone in Tennessee orange is jumping for joy this morning, knowing that their biggest foe is finally gone! Go Big Orange!

Two Rivers Ford LOVES the Titans!

With all the Titans news circling right now, it seems like a great time to give a shoutout to our friends Rhett Bryan and Coach Mac over at Titans Radio!

We also want to give some love to Titans WR DeAndre Hopkins, a member of the Two Rivers Ford family!

DHop had an incredible 1st year with the Titans, catching 75 passes for 1,057 yards and 7 TDs! We can’t wait for year 2 of DHop in a TRF truck and in two-tone blue! Titan Up!

Thanks to our wonderful customers and some incredible growth in and around the Mount Juliet area, we finished 2023 ranked as the 36th best Ford dealer in the USA by sales, out of around 3,000!!

There were SO MANY donations, that MNPD had to actually turn some of you away due to timely completed deliveries. Great problem to have!

The support from volunteers and donators this year was incredible, and it was so heartwarming to see all the good that was done for total strangers in need!

Christmas is Gone, BUT There are Still Great Deals to Grab!

It’s Nico Time!

Monday at Noon CT, the #25 UT Vols take on #20 Iowa in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl in Orlando. Now, despite some Vols players opting out of the game, there is one very exciting reason to turn this game on.

Nico Iamaleava.

Don’t worry if you can’t pronounce his name yet, you’ll learn.

Monday will mark the 1st start for the former 5-star, true freshman QB who was the #1 player in his class a year ago.

On Wednesday, starting QB Joe Milton posted on Instagram that he would not be participating in the bowl game, in order to get ready for the NFL Draft, clearing the way for Nico to get some action.

Despite Tennessee missing some players on both sides of the ball, this game will serve as a great barometer for the Nico and the Vols heading into 2024. Iowa has one of the best defenses in college football, and a big stage like a nationally televised bowl game, is a great way to break in a young, exciting QB like Nico.

Kickoff is at Noon CT on ABC, New Year’s Day! Go Big Orange!

Happy Trails, Chief!

Over the weekend, Mount Juliet said goodbye to Chief James Hambrick for the last time, as he rode off for the final time in his beautiful red Mustang, courtesy of Two Rivers Ford.

Chief Hambrick proudly served the Mount Juliet Police Department and the people of Mount Juliet for over 28 years, the last 11 of which, as the Chief of Police.

His legacy in Mount Juliet will live on, even as he is no longer serving. The men and women of Two Rivers Ford want to thank Chief Hambrick, his wife Denise, and the whole Hambrick family for so many incredible years of leadership and service.

Enjoy retirement, Chief!
