Vols are Dancing in March

Rick Barnes and the UT Vols are headed to Madison Square Garden for the Sweet 16, after besting 13-seed Louisiana 58-55 and 5-seed Duke 65-52. After losing star PG Zakai Zeigler a few weeks back, many lost hope for the Vols, and doubted their chances in March. But after dominating Duke in the Round of 32, many of those hopes are renewed again.

The Vols will face 9-seed Florida Atlantic in MSG, after the East Region saw some major shakeups early in the tournament. It started when 1-seed Purdue fell to 16-seed cinderella Farleigh Dickinson, marking only the 2nd time ever that a 16-seed upset a #1 seed.

That upset was followed by East Region 2-seed Marquette falling to 7-seed Michigan State in the 2nd round. Now, a Vols win on Thursday night would land them a date with either 3-seed Kansas State or 7-seed Michigan State. Despite the seeding, the Vols are unlikely to be favored in either game, giving UT a chip on their shoulder, with a chance at a Final Four appearance on the line.

The Vols and FAU tip off at 8pm on Thursday night on TBS! Go Big Orange!
